At home but get message I'm roaming & must purchase PIN

At home but get message I'm roaming & must purchase PIN

Postby revisioner » Fri Jan 14, 2022 1:45 pm

I've had my phone (LG Rebel 4) for over a year with no problems. Suddenly I can no longer make or receive calls on it, even though I have over 200 minutes on my balance. When I try to call, I get the message that I'm roaming and that I must purchase a PIN (even though I'm at home, where I've never previously had any problems with service).

In my forum inbox, I can see a PM from Tracfone Jude requesting my phone number to solve this issue. However, I cannot find any way to respond to this PM. When I attempt to compose a message to reply to this PM, I receive the statement "We are sorry, but you are not authorised to use this feature. You may have just registered here and may need to participate more to be able to use this feature."

Very frustrating. And because my phone no longer makes calls, I cannot call customer support for help.

I don't see any way to respond to the PM. There is not any "Reply" button on it.

Still not seeing a "Reply" option to the PM. Will I after this message is approved?

Looks like Revisioner never did find a solution.

Same situation here. My Tracfone can no longer access the cell network in places where it used to connect with no problem. I get that annoying You are Roaming! To purchase a PIN blah blah. Is Verizon deliberately degrading Tracfone now that it owns it? Has Verizon degraded 4G/LTE service from its towers after installing 5G?

I am in a very weak cell signal area at my rural home. I spent hundreds of bucks and hours of time buying and setting up a good quality cell booster from WeBoost, and even added an outside high-gain directional antenna that is pointed to the nearest Verizon tower. But my phone has to be within 6 ft, of the booster's inside antenna to get a usable signal from it. If I'm at the other end of my living room the phone wants to connect to a U.S. Cellular 3G tower, and then I get the You Are Roaming thing. Very frustrating. And I just paid for a 1 year service extension on Tracfone. I've used Tracfone for over 10 years but now it seems it no longer works like it did.

My phone no longer works in two towns where it did work up to a few months ago, and both places have good Verizon signals. What gives?
