NOT ABLE TO ADD NEW REWARDS ACCOUNT REFERRAL CODE

Hi, got a new phone/account and registered for rewards, however, I am not able to find a place to add my friend's referral code. Chatted with CS, was asked to Call. Called CS and got thrown from one rep to another saying 'it's out of our control' and finally got disconnected. So trying to find from any new users if they had similar issue and possible solution.
