New phone unlocked

I have a samsung j7 on trackfone and am looking at getting a samsung s8 active do I need a new sim card if so how do I move the number and associated data to it. Or can I just move my sim to the new phone?

I keep getting “Device or account cannot be found in our records. Please
review information and try again” when entering the sim number
