Question on Basic Phone service cards

Question on Basic Phone service cards

Postby Tweeds33 » Fri Oct 16, 2020 7:07 am

I see a 1 year service card. This card says it adds 400 minutes for a cost of $99.99
In the details it states it includes:
365 days of service
1200 minutes and
1200 Texts
Thanks to 3x benefits

Does this mean for $99.99 I only get 1200 talk minutes and 1200 texts for an entire year on a basic flip phone?
Why do I care if the service is on for a year? Any old cell phone, even if it doesn’t have an active service can call 911 for free. For any smartphone, you can use IM like Facebook messenger, Telegram for messages or Google Voice for text and calls, as long as you have wifi.
Also, the card only states 400 minutes. Are the 1200 talk and 1200 text independent of one another, and you truly get 1200 minutes of talk time and 1200 texts, or are they shared and it’s just 1200 units to use for talk or text? If each has 1200, that’s about 4 cents a minute to talk and 4 cents a text. If they share a pool, that’s 8 cents a text or minute speaking on the phone.
Can’t you use the unlimited cards from the smartphone on a basic phone to say money?
I text roughly 4000 Texts a month. What plan can I use?
