Purchased airtime, but was unable to use it

I purchased airtime on 4/29/2020 but when I went to activate the phone as instructed using *22890, I repeatedly got a message saying "unable to program your phone...". I tried activating via the Tracfone website but got an error message there as well. I tried reaching out via Facebook and Twitter, both to no avail as I was unable to reach a live agent. I am only now able to communicate via this forum, as now is the first time I received the activation email after repeated requests. My unused airtime purchase expired on 5/29/2020. How can this situation be remedied?
