My Account app "insecure internet connection"

I cannot log in to the Android Tracfone My Account app. The app gives an erroneous "insecure internet connection" error. My home WiFi is protected by WPA. The app gives the same error on WiFi and on 4G LTE with WiFi disabled. I tried deleting the cache and data and reinstalling the app without success. I have no problem logging in to my Tracfone account via an Android browser (Chrome) or a PC browser (Firefox). Your help would be appreciated.
