Voicemail notifications

I am not receiving voicemail notifications on my Samsung A20S. Someone informed me that my voicemail was full....when I checked it I discovered months-old messages. I bought the unlocked version of this phone....a voicemail app was not preinstalled. I tried calling tech support but I’m not sure the agent understood the problem. I need help ASAP!!
